The optical variability of the quasar 3C345 over a timespan of 3,965 d (1965-1976) is examined. The light curve has been analyzed quantitatively using a procedure suggested by Deeming (1975) for the Fourier analysis of unequally spaced data. The power spectrum shows three peaks with periods of 1540, 800 and 140 d. A harmonic solution which reproduces the complex maxima and single burst with fair accuracy has been obtained.
