The authors present CCD photometric observations of the error circle of the X-ray source EXO 2030+375. The X-ray position and the optical and infrared colours allow the identification of the transient source with a highly reddened (E(B-V) = 3.8) early type star. The optical candidate has photometric characteristics consistent with a Be/X-ray system located at a distance of 2 - 7 kpc.
