The paper presents the optical characteristics of the Luna 24 regolith, which is analyzed to show that the coefficient of reflection of the lunar soil column varies with its depth. These variations are attributed to the changes in the optical properties of the material, its granularity, and morphological characteristics. The Luna-24 column optical characteristics indicated that this material is not homogeneous and that it varies in different layers. The results indicate a similarity of the optical properties of the top layers of regolith to the Luna-16 mare regolith and the similarity of the bottom layers to Luna-20 regolith.
