RESUMEN. TOP BASE es el primer prototipo de un DBMS especffico para la manipulaci6n eficiente de la gran cantidad de datos at6micos que resultaron del "Proyecto de la Opacidad". Se describen los detalles de su enfoque conceptual, el diseiio fisico y el lenguaje de consulta. La capacidad presente de busqueda, manipulaci6n y depliegue grafico de los datos de TOPBASE se ilustra con algunos ejemplos. ABSTRACT. TOPBASE is the first prototype in the development of a tailored DBMS for the efficient manipulation of the large volume of atomic data that resulted from the "Opacity -Project". We describe the details of the adopted conceptual approach, its physical design and query language. A few examples are included to illustrate its present search, data manipulation and graphic capabilities. Key words: ATOMIC PROCESSES
