The observation, we have made of the occultation of beta Sco by Jupiter is analysed in respect of its photometric accuracy. It is shown that the accurate determination of the zero level of the stellar flux was the crucial measurement. The used method is described and the photometric accuracy of the obtained light curve is discussed. Characteristic features ('plateaus') are presented in far portions of the light curves. It is shown that these 'plateaus' are actually due to the jovian atmosphere. In such a case this implies that the used inversion method of Pioneer 10 radio occultation data have to be revised.
