The authors report on very high resolution (0arcsec.3) aperture synthesis observations of the molecular gas surrounding the ultracompact H II region G 10.6-0.4 in the (J, K) = (1, 1) and (J, K) = (3, 3) inversion lines of NH3. Previous lower angular resolution observations suggest that the molecular gas is gravitationally collapsing onto the H II region. Maps made with a spatial resolution of better than 0.014 pc resolve the accretion flow of the molecular gas onto the central H II region and show that the flow field is characterized by differential rotation and accelerating infall. The kinetic energy in the rotational and infall velocities at each measured orbit is comparable to the gravitational energy.
