The sunspot distribution in the northern and southern hemispheres of the sun has been studied in detail. This paper is concerned with the sunspot N-S asymmetry during the period 1874-1987. Statistical analyses show that the distribution of sunspots in the northern and southern hemispheres is not random. The variation of sunspot N-S distribution follows the variation of sunspot latitude which in turn is related to the phase of the sunspot cycle. Some predictions about future N-S asymmetry are made by comparing the 'Great Sunspot' area data and the long-term N-S asymmetry data.
