Scientific paper

Redshifts and accurate positions for galaxies in the core of the NGC 507
group are presented. The group is shown to be closely similar to other
groups of galaxies located nearby, including the Perseus cluster. A
conventional virial analysis shows the usual excess kinetic energy. The
redshift-magnitude diagram is consistent with the presence of bands.
