Applications of the Newton-Raphson iterative method to artificial satellite orbit determination are reviewed. Solution of the nonlinear algebraic equation system is discussed and the convergence of the method is investigated. In the numerical examples, the equation which describes the motion of the satellite is the equation of the two-body motion. The state equation can involve any acting forces.
