We are completing the construction of a high speed, five channel photometer for the NMSU 1m telescope. The photometer uses a beamsplitter and dichroic mirrors to allow for simultaneous UBVRI photometry. While the U and B channels employ PMT modules, the V, R, and I channels use Avalanche Photodiode (APD) modules as their detectors. APDs have significantly higher quantum efficiencies than PMTs, while maintaining high speed capabilities. The entire instrument was designed and built on campus, with much of the work accomplished by undergraduate students. The instrument will be deployed on the NMSU 1m this winter for testing and calibration, and is expected to be ready for general observer use in the Fall of 2008.
