The Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer is a four element astrometric interferometer and a six element imaging interferometer presently under fabrication at Anderson Mesa, Arizona. It is a cooperative project between the United States Naval Observatory, the Naval Research Laboratory and Lowell Observatory. The plans and progress made in fabricating the instrument will be described along with some of the scientific results.
