This study shows that the OH source OH 0739-14 (= OH 231.84 + 4.22)
comprises a late-type star engulfed within an extensive reflection
nebula. The nebula probably was generated by prolonged mass loss. The
reddening law within the nebula appears to be abnormal. It is suggested
that such objects may be rather commonplace in the Galaxy's halo.
