It is shown that very long-term variations of the geomagnetic field in the Ukraine and Moldavia during the past 5500 years contain a basic 1200-year period that is constant in time and the same for all components, and cyclic variations lasting 500-600 years. The 1200-year variations are a global characteristic of the geomagnetic field and are determined by the precession of the eccentric dipole in the eastward direction with a speed of 0.3 deg/year.
