The cross section and polarization for nucleon Oxygen scattering has a minimum at large angles and low energies that cannot be fitted with phenomenological or microscopic local optical potentials, however it has been well fitted with a parity dependent (local) optical potential [1]. It is shown here that this parity dependence is due to channel coupling, i.e., to the dynamic excitation of the target nucleus during the scattering process, and is not due to the exchange process of the incident nucleon with the target nucleons [2], and is also not due to alpha-particle clustering in the target nucleus [3].
