On the basis of observations by a narrow-band spectral filter in the region 3640-4000 A, the mechanisms of CN production and the emission of the 0-0 violet band at 3883 A in Comet P/Halley are investigated. It is pointed out that the resonance fluorescence of the daughter CN molecules is the main source of the 3883 A emission. Some conclusions about the parent molecules are given.
