A model for the motion of bodies in the formation of a binary star system is discussed. A three-body system is examined in which two nonrelativistic bodies A and B with a gravitational radius/radius of the body ratio much smaller than unity are restrained from approaching one another by a rigid collar. At the center is a third body C, at rest with respect to A and B. The motion of C following the release of A and the catastrophic disintegration of B is considered assuming that C is first, a nonrelativistic body, and second, a black hole. It is shown that the motion of nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic bodies is different under identical conditions, and that the motion of black holes cannot be described by the equations of celestial mechanics.
