The motion of an interstellar grain is discussed, with account taken of the various resistive forces acting on it. Grains may survive and escape from an Hii region surrounding a central star in periods of ˜ 106 108 years, depending on the temperature of the exciting star. It is suggested that, under special circumstances, gas may diffuse out of the region faster than the grains.
