Clusters Of Galaxies: Morphology, Clusters Of Galaxies: X Rays

The authors present some initial results from a systematic survey of the morphological properties of clusters of galaxies using observations from the PSPC archive. Best fit values of β, the ratio of the scale height of the galaxies to that of the intracluster gas, and the core radius of the cluster were found for a sample of 66 clusters, showing a strong correlation. Two explanations are put forward including a source of heating of the gas above that caused by gravitational collapse.
