The SuperMACHO project is a 5 year microlensing survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud. The goal of the survey is to understand the nature of the lens population responsible for the excess microlensing rate observed by the 5.7 year MACHO project. Using simulations of microlensing events and supernovae, we determine the efficiency of the survey for detecting microlensing events. We also obtain an estimate of the number of supernova contaminants in the data set. We discuss the efficiency of the survey and the expected number of events assuming the MACHO results. We also discuss some preliminary findings.
