The factors influencing the spatial homogeneity of the sensitivity and the detector resolution, particularly relating to the spectroscopic recording evaluation, are investigated. A light source is developed that gives flat field images under reproductible conditions; with these the relative sensitivity of the detector can be estimated according to the recorded impact point of the photon. Measurements were carried out to determine the influence of the differential nonlinearities in the characteristic curves of the analog to digital converter. Good results are obtained for the evaluation of high resolution spectra of planetary nebulae obtained with a telescope at the European station in La Silla (Chile).
