The theory underlying the frequency-diversity reception method is examined, and this method is used to solve the inverse problem of radio-wave scattering in the determination of the volume parameters of ionospheric irregularities in the case of vertical sounding. The frequency correlation function is determined by taking into account the volume scattering. The combination of the frequency radius of correlation with the diversity reception makes it possible to determine the geometry of the irregularities.
