The globular cluster omega Cen is famous for its large internal abundance spread a phenomenon not seen in other globular clusters. There is now increasing evidence from high dispersion studies that suggest enrichment by intermediate-mass stars and from Stromgren photometry of stars in the turnoff region that this cluster also has an age range of perhaps 3-4 Gyrs with the more metal-rich stars being younger. We have used 2dF to constrain this age range by obtaining spectra of the members to determine abundances. With the photometry and the abundances we have then used isochrones to constrain the ages of the stars particularly the metal-rich ones and thus generated a more accurate age range for the cluster.
