From 44 spectra obtained at Asiagno in 1969 1971, we infer the orbital elements of the double lines system LY Aur. The mass-functions indicate rather massive components, with mass ratio 0.58±0.03. This is in good agreement with a contact photometric solution found by Eaton (1978). Combination of spectroscopic and photometric data yields the following absolute elements:m 1=13,m 2=22, separation 34.5,R 1=11,R 2=15, in solar units. A short comment on the large number of massive contact systems is given.
