It is noted that the strength and unique topology of Saturn's magnetic field can be explained in a natural way by the precessing-dynamo model. This requires an allowance for the influence of the satellites Mimas and Tethys as well as the sun on the precession of the planet. An allowance must also be made for the differing conductivity of the liquid cores of Jupiter and Saturn. It is noted that the presence of a nonuniform precession with markedly different amplitudes makes it possible for the dynamo process to operate with a more homogeneous field structure.
