The SDSS-II has completed the first of three 3-month SN survey campaigns, with the primary goal of obtaining well-measured light-curves of 200 type Ia SNe for the study of cosmology. This survey covers 300 sq. degrees and is sensitive to type Ia SNe to a redshift of 0.4.In the first year of operation we have discovered 130 type Ia SNe, including 40 at redshift <0.15.We present here an estimate of the low-redshift (z< 0.15) SN Ia rate derived from the data obtained in the Fall 2005 season.
