The variable star X Per, an optical counterpart to the X-ray binary 3U 0352+30, was investigated. Photographic plates taken at the Sonneberg and Ondrejov Observatories and numerous visual observations provided by amateur astronomers were used. The data set corresponds to the time interval 1933 to 1988. The investigations allow long-term light changes to be analyzed. The most significant results are given and discussed. The possible very long term light changes with amplitude of nearly 0.6 in B and an apparent period of nearly 40 years were revealed.
