The surface inhomogeneities of the chemical composition of HID 140160 (~ Ser) were studied from the spectral line proffles. The method of quantitative analysis of local abundance pro- posed by Khokhlova (1974) was used. The overabundance of Sr up to 1O~ was found in three `spots' on the surface of the star and normal abundance outside the spots. lion was found to be overabundant up to 10 times in four spots and deficient by 10 times outside the spots. Some arguments in favour of a supernova hypothesis are mentioned to explain the deficiency of iron
