Optical images of the gravitational lens candidate MG 0414 + 0534, acquired in excellent seeing (FWHM = 0.80 arcsec), reveal the presence of a fifth (and probably a sixth) object in the system. The fifth object lies near the center of the four images of the background source, within 0.13 arcsec of the predicted position for the lensing galaxy. It appears to be both resolved and flattened, supporting its identification as the lensing galaxy. Its position angle, however, is found to be inconsistent with simple, elliptical potential models. The optical flux ratio for the close, bright pair of components is significantly greater than that of the corresponding radio flux ratio, and greater than that predicted by the simplest models for the lens system.
