We present preliminary results from a study of the Hα bar in NGC 3359, a nearby, nearly face-on barred spiral galaxy. We create an extinction map using Hα and Brackettγ images. Using this extinction map, we can correct our other images for extinction and better analyze the metallicity gradient (using [OIII], [OII] and [NII] images). Also, we perform an analysis to describe the physical nature of the gas in the bar; which should help resolve the question of why there is a leading bar.
