Scientific paper

Theoretical and observational aspects of the large scale structure of the Universe are discussed. We show how observations of the clustering of galaxies and clusters can be used to estimate the form of the power spectrum in the linear and quasi-linear regimes of gravitational instability. The peculiar motions of galaxies on large scales are also discussed, and it is shown how these can be used to constrain models of structure formation.
