The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) project is one of the National Major Scientific Projects undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Science. The 4 meter-class telescope has 4000 optical fibers in a field of view five degrees in diameter, and is located at Xinglong Station north of Beijing.
