Accurate interferometric kinematic data suggest the interpretation of the brightest regions of NGC 6164-5 as a two-branched helical structure related to HC 148937 and having a systematic radial velocity nearly coincident with that of the tenuous surrounding medium; the gas in the helix could be the result of non-equatorial ejections from the central star. Morphologic, spectroscopic, and kinematic data would also indicate that the distance of 1.4 kpc proposed by Westerlund (1960) is substantially correct.
