We propose two-epoch 8 GHz observations of the recently discovered TeV blazar PKS 2005-489. Two of the three existing VLBI images suggest an apparent jet speed of 0.7c, consistent with the relatively slow speeds seen in other TeV emitting AGN, despite the evidence given by rapid TeV variability for high Doppler factors. The proposed observations will enable the apparent speed to be reliably measured and will help determine what factors make the jets of TeV sources much slower than the superluminal speeds reported for GeV emitting (EGRET detected) AGN.
