Scientific paper

The ISEE 2 EGD plasma experiment data were used with the ISEE 1 and GEOS 2 ion composition experiments data to investigate the properties of ionospheric O+ streams flowing in the Earth's magnetotail. Computation of the main parameters of these ions allows study of the topology of the regions where they are observed. Using the O+ ions as test particles, the configuration of the electric and magnetic field in the low latitude boundary layer, in the lobes, in the plasma sheet boundary layer and in the plasma sheet was examined.
