The resolution performances obtainable with IUE low resolution images are reviewed. It is shown that the spatial resolution (perpendicular to the dispersion) is strongly dependent on the telescope focussing conditions while the spectral resolution is not. After determining the telescope optimum focussing conditions, information is provided on the wavelength dependence of the spectral and spatial resolution at optimum focus for the three operational cameras (SWP, LWP, and LWR). The analytical shape of the PSF perpendicular to the dispersion is then analysed.
