Using recently determined parameters of the Algol system TV Cas the origin of the system is discussed from a conservative as well as from a nonconservative point of view concerning mass transfer. Comparison with evolutionary computations points towards an initial mass of the loser of 3 solar masses evolving through a nonconservative early case B. The initial mass of the gainer was 2.4 solar masses indicating that 25 percent of the total initial mass together with 40 percent of the total angular momentum is lost from the system. This gainer is overluminous with respect to its mass, but does not attain the observed luminosity. The age of the system is 3.24 x 10 to the 8th yr.
