Kappa distribution is the non-thermal distribution with the enhanced number of particles in high-energy tail. This type of distribution can be originated in the solar corona and also in transition region. We have studied the changes in the ionization and excitation equilibrium due to the distribution shape. The synthetic spectra were computed (i) for isothermal and one density plasma, (ii) for the DEM of the quiet Sun and (iii) for DEM of the active region. The possibilities for diagnosing the shape of the electron distribution from solar spectral line intensities are discussed.
