The formation of quasars is a relatively unknown process. Presented in the following are identified quasar candidates, which have been located with in a mass overdensity discovered in the Deep Lens Survey via weak gravitational lensing shear techniques. These candidates where identified using the KX method (Warren et. al.). This method distinguishes K-band, flux-limited samples of quasars and allows for the identification of quasars which have eluded traditional surveys due to dust extinction.
With the confirmation of these quasars, the correlation between the location of the quasars and the mass overdensities will hopefully been identified. In the future, we hope to confirm these quasar candidates with follow-up spectroscopy.
This research was supported in part by the NSF Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory Research Experiences for Undergraduates.
