The potential energies of the first few electronic states of the hydrogen molecular ion in an arbitrary magnetic field are calculated. Two trial wave functions, a Gaussian-exponential and a Gaussian-Gaussian, are used to obtain variational results over a wide range of magnetic field strengths and at arbitrary orientations of the molecular axis with respect to the magnetic field.
