A progress report is presented for the Homestake Large Area Scintillation Detector, which is located 4850 ft below ground surface, and the extensive (100-scintillator) air shower surface array located above the underground chamber. The two detectors will be used to search for slow, massive magnetic monopoles, as well as to study the zenith angle distribution of neutrino-induced muons, search for neutrino bursts from the gravitational collapse of massive stars, measure the multiplicity and transverse momentum distributions of cosmic ray muons, and study the composition of the primary cosmic rays.
