We describe our efforts to improve existing and create new software tools for the planning and scheduling of observations at the 9.2 m Hobby-Eberly Telescope (HET). These tools are used by the principal investigators (PIs) to prepare proposals and plan observations and by the astronomer running the telescope to evaluate, schedule and execute objects in the queue.
