A non-LTE (non-Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium) analysis of high-resolution, high signal-to-noise spectra of two B-supergiants, kappa Orionis and epsilon Orionis (spectral types B0.5 Ia and B0 Ia, respectively) is presented, with the principal aim of deriving reliable atmospheric parameters (effective temperature, logarithmic gravity and helium fraction) to establish their evolutionary status. For the first time, a non-zero microturbulent velocity is explicitly included in the non-LTE treatment of the hydrogen/helium line spectrum and this leads to normal helium fractions for both stars (in contradiction to previously published values). Such helium fractions are in better agreement with those predicted by current stellar evolutionary theory.
