We show that the spherical tensor decomposition of the Stokes parameters developed for angle-averaged frequency redistribution functions can be extended to angle-dependent frequency redistribution functions. The irreducible components of the Stokes parameters loose their cylindrical symmetry but one can still write an integral equation for the irreducible components of the source vector. Numerical solution of this equation may be simplified by the introduction of an azimuthal Fourier expansion of the frequency redistribution function.
