H-alpha 60-deg field photographs of the Gun Nebula appear to show a 36-deg diameter circular main body of ring-like appearance and faint, diffuse, and filamentary extensions merging with the surrounding H-alpha background. Measurements have been made in over 300 directions toward the nebula for the forbidden line N II 6584/H-alpha, forbidden line S II 6717,6731/H-alpha, forbidden line S II 6717/forbidden line S II 6731, and forbidden line O III 5007/H-beta intensity ratios. Except for the last of these, which ranges from 0.23 up to 1.27 (with an average value which, at 0.55, indicates a moderately high gas excitation), the other ratios are almost constant over the nebula. The present results support the finding of an expanding gas shell by Reynolds (1981).
