It is found that the meteorite is an olivine-hypersthene chondrite with a perfect recrystallization structure. It is composed principally of olivine (Fa24) and orthopyroxene (Fs 19), with minor amounts of plagioclase, kamacite, taenite, troilite, and chromite and a negligible amount of native copper. Textural features reveal that there are only a few chondrules with distinct outlines, as identified in thin sections. When examined in polarized cross light, it is found that the meteorite is of high petrographic type, belonging to the 6-5 chondrites of Van Schmus and Wood (1967). A preliminary hypothesis for L(6-5) is indicated on the basis of the homogeneity and composition of the silicate minerals and the apparent lack of chondrules with distinct outlines and recrystallized matrix.
