On the mountain Platåberget located 78°N on Svalbard, Norway, a ground segment for the NCUBE satellite has been built during the spring of 2004. The signal to and from the satellite is controlled via a transceiver with a built in terminal node controller, which acts almost like a modem. The uplink is a specially designed static round beam antenna based on the inverted crossed V-dipole system. The downlink consists of four crossed Quad antennas steered by two independent axis rotor controllers. The transceiver and rotor controller have a RS-232 serial port, enabling computer control. To these serial ports; "RS-232 to TCP/IP" bridges are installed, enabling operation via Internet.
