A two-component model of the universe in which cold dark matter predominates is used to calculate the evolution of adiabatic Gaussian perturbations. These calculations can explain the observed fall of galaxies in the range of about 50/h Mpc (h = H0/100 km/s Mpc) toward the great attractor. Conditions under which it is possible to rapidly increase the peculiar velocities of galaxies moving toward the great attractor are determined.
