The nature of the gravitational lens phenomenon and its potential application as a tool in cosmic communication are discussed. It is shown that, under very restricted situations, the gravitational lens may be a method of choice for the transfer of information between galaxies and for the search of extragalactic SETI. Interferometric high time resolution/broad bandwidth modes are suggested as a scenario for extragalactic SETI.
