Analytical and experimental results are presented for various reflector antenna geometries to illustrate the general principles of the geometric theory of diffraction (GTD) and to present a compact summary of generally applicable formulas. Calculations are made for axisymmetric reflectors for vector spherical-wave point sources on and off axis, and the results are applied to radiation from a prime-focus paraboloid and from a hyperboloid with spherical-wave feed at its external focus. Application of the GTD to dual-reflector systems is evaluated.
