The generation conditions for magnetic field modes in galaxies with axisymmetric material configuration have been determined for the case that the galactic disk is embedded in a halo with very high conductivity. Axisymmetric modes are preferred in general. In some cases, however, non-axisymmetric modes can be excited with nearly equal ease.
